Taro is a popular tuber used in the diet of many countries in Africa, Asia and South and Central America. Depending of the countries, it is also called “manioc”, “yuca”, “yautia” or “cassava”. Its a large root with a brownish skin that is eaten somewhat like a potato. This multipurpose root vegetable is a good source of nutrients.

How to make a taro bubble tea?
Bubble tea is a fun and delicious drink ideally made of tea, milk, sweetener, and tapioca pearls. However, today almost all of bubble teas are made with mix powders which already contains sugar, non-dairy creamer and flavouring, ready to be blended with the fluid (hot water, hot milk or tea) and the tapioca pearls.
Here is how we suggest to make it.
First, you will need few things to make delicious taro bubble tea:
- Premium Bubble Tea Powder Mix
- Premium Tea
- A Shaker Cup
- A long Spoon or stirrer
- Some Ice
- Boba (Tapioca Pearls)
- Toppings (that is optional)

Make sure to choose a quality powder and boba (tapioca pearls), then it’s very important to pick a high quality tea to build the base of your bubble tea, because the base will affect how your bubble tea will taste at the end. Keep in mind that some flavored powders work better with some base teas than others, for example Black teas like Earl Grey or English Breakfast will be work best for Thaï Milk Bubble Tea, when a good matcha green tea usually work better with fruity Bubble teas. How to prepare your taro bubble tea in 3 steps
STEP 1: Cooking the Boba (tapioca pearls)
Bring about 4 cups of water to boil on Medium / Low and add the tapioca pearls. Stir the pearls and wait for them to float to the top.
Cook for a minimum of 5 minutes until the desired level of softness. Quickly rinse the pearls with cold water.
STEP 2: Preparing the powder mix
Mix the flavored powder and the tea powder together into a shaker or glass cup give it a quick stir then pour 4 cups of boiling water, shake well or stir until the powder completely dissolve.
STEP 3: Assemble and serve
Transfer the pearls into a bowl, and mix the pearls with a few tablespoons of Sugar Syrup or Brown Sugar to add flavor.
Add 2 cups of ice and shake or stir until a nice froth is formed.
Pour liquid over ¼ cup of tapioca pearls in a cup and enjoy!
